Introduction
The Security Overview provides a high-level summary of your website’s current security configuration.
It is designed to give administrators a clear picture of the website’s protection without requiring them to review every individual setting.
When CC Security Essentials Pro is active, the Security Overview is enhanced to include information about the additional protection features provided by the Pro plugin.
The Overview remains the starting point for reviewing your website’s security.
Why an Overview?
Managing website security involves many different features and settings.
Rather than expecting administrators to visit several pages, the Security Overview brings together the most important information in a single place.
The page helps answer questions such as:
- Is my website generally well protected?
- Are any important protections missing?
- Have I configured the available Pro features?
- Is there anything that deserves further investigation?
It is intended to provide a concise summary rather than a detailed technical report.
Viewing the Security Overview
Open:
Security → Overview
The page displays your current Protection Score together with a summary of your website’s security.
When CC Security Essentials Pro is active, additional information relating to Pro features is included automatically.
Protection Score
The Protection Score provides an overall indication of how many recommended protections are currently active.
It is intended as a helpful guide rather than a definitive measure of security.
A high score suggests that the recommended protections are largely in place.
A lower score simply indicates that some protections may not yet have been enabled or configured.
The score should always be interpreted alongside the recommendations shown on the page.
Additional Pro Information
When Pro is installed, the Overview expands to include information about features such as:
- Login Protection
- Password Policies
- Password Age Monitoring
- Password Change Enforcement
- REST Rules
- Security Events
These additions help provide a broader picture of your website’s overall security without changing the purpose of the page.
The core summary remains clear and easy to understand.
Recommendations
The Security Overview may include recommendations that highlight areas worth reviewing.
Recommendations are intended to:

A recommendation is not necessarily a warning.

Relationship with Security Health
The Security Overview and Security Health complement one another.
The Security Overview answers the question:
“How is my website doing overall?”
Security Health answers:
“Which individual protections should I review?”
Most administrators will begin with the Overview before moving to Security Health when more detail is required.
Relationship with the Security Guide
When a recommendation appears in the Security Overview, the Security Guide provides additional explanation.
The Guide helps you understand:
- why the recommendation exists;
- when it is appropriate;
- how to configure the feature;
- how to verify that it is working.
This allows the Overview to remain concise while still providing access to more detailed guidance.
Relationship with Verification
Where verification is available, it provides additional confidence that configured protections are operating correctly.
The Security Overview summarises the overall state of your website.
Verification helps confirm the behaviour of individual protections.

Common Questions
Why did my Protection Score change?
The Protection Score reflects the protections currently configured on your website.
Enabling or disabling features, applying recommendations or changing settings may cause the score to change.
This is normal.
Does a lower score mean my website is insecure?

Some recommendations may not be appropriate for every website.
The score is intended to guide review rather than provide an absolute measure of security.
Should I try to achieve the highest possible score?
The goal is not simply to maximise the score.
Instead, configure the protections that are appropriate for your website and review any recommendations that remain.

Why doesn’t the Overview show every setting?
The Overview is intended to remain concise.
Detailed configuration information is available through Security Health and the individual feature pages.
Keeping the Overview focused makes it easier to understand at a glance.
Troubleshooting
The Overview hasn’t changed after enabling a feature
Some features may require the page to be refreshed or additional configuration before they contribute to the overall summary.
Review the relevant feature documentation if expected information does not appear.
